Poinsettia – Christmas Flower

Poinsettia are tall species, and have a rangy shrub that grows to a height of 3.2 m. It has large, thick dark, oval green leaves that are toothed and pointed on the sides and at the tips respectively. They stand out from smooth green erect stems. At stem tips flowers are born during winter. Actual flowers are quite small and have yellow structures at the centre of the brilliantly Red coloured bracts. These bracts are actually modified leaves and are usually 8 to 10 bracts that might be 10 -17 cm length. Poinsettia is one of the most commercially traded plant species of the diverse huge family. And so, Poinsettia – Christmas plants are well known for their red – green foliage and are best known for their wide usage in Christmas floral displays. It might look good when kept somewhere in the living room or in the terrace area.
