Morning Glory-Ipomoea

Description

Ipomoea (Morning Glory) are one of the fast-growing annual vines that are very well known for its heart-shaped leaves and trumpet-shaped flowers of purple-blue colour. They have one distinct characteristic too, that their flowers would usually reveal its white throats during morning season only and close during afternoon. This is the reason for their name, “Morning Glory”. Blossoms generally start from early Summer to early fall. Native originated to Central America and Mexico, these vines, Ipomoea tricolor (Morning Glory) are easy to care for, pest or disease resistant and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. With a range of flower colours, of blue, magenta, red, pink or white, and easy nature with ability to grow 180 – 300cm tall, will make these plants perfect for ground cover, hanging baskets or Mediterranean gardens. They could also be easily pruned during spring making them relevant for outdoor gardening or patios.
